Basic Computer
A computer is an electronic machine device that handles information, and it has the ability to store, retrieve and process data. You may know that computers can be used to type documents, send emails, play games, and browse the web. You can also use it to view or edit or create documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and videos.
A computer is a programmable machine device that accepts raw data as an input and consequently gives it an output and only gives output after performing mathematical and logical operations. It can process numerical as well as non-statistical calculations. The word "computer" comes from the Latin word "computer" which means to calculate.
The Basic Part Of Computer:
- Processor: Rules software and hardware instructions.
- Memory: It is the primary memory for data transfer between CPU and storage.
- Motherboard: which connects other parts or components of the computer.
- Storage device: It stores data permanently, e.g., hard drive.
- Input device: It allows you to communicate with the input data keyboard.
- Output device: It shows you the output, e.g., monitor.
Types of Computer:
Super Computer
Supercomputers are very large in
size, so they are also called 'monsters'! Supercomputers are used to perform
incredibly complex tasks that require great speed and accuracy. This computer
can do the work that our PC takes 20 hours in just 90 seconds. Supercomputers
are used in works such as weather forecasting and rapid research.
Mainframe Computer
Mainframe
computers are smaller in size, more expensive than these supercomputers. But it
is much faster and together, up to 100 people can work on this computer at a
time. These computers are used in large organizations.
Work stations
This is
called personal. These computers are also known as 'microcomputers'. These
computers are used in homes, offices, and schools.
Micro Computer
This is
also called a single-user computer which has less speed and storage capacity than
others. This uses a microprocessor.
Mini Computer
Minicomputers are smaller than mainframe computers. Up to 10 people can use a mini-computer at a time. These computers are used in banks and large institutions.
- Desktop Computer: Desktops are designed to place computers on a table and are usually made up of several different parts, including a monitor, keyboard, mouse, CPU, and speaker. Many people use it at home, school, and office.
- Laptop Computer: The second type of computer is the laptop and Laptops are battery-powered computers that are more portable than desktops, which you can use anywhere. It is smaller than a computer and can be carried anywhere.
- Tablet Computer: Tablet computers - or tablets - also called handheld computers that are even smaller than laptops. Which is like a mobile phone and uses a touch-sensitive screen for navigation. An example is the iPad tablet.
